Our Sections

We run three sections at 1st Pitsea & Vange; Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Beavers is for children aged 6 to 8 years old. Hundred Aker Wood Colony meets on a Monday evening from 5:15 to 6:45 pm.

Cubs is for children aged 8 to10.5 years old. Cherokee Pack meets on a Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30pm .

Scouts is for young people aged 10.5 to14 years old. Scouts meet on a Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00pm.

Subs are £3.50 per week. This goes towards the cost of section activities; and the upkeep of our hall.

Capitation is due annually in December, £36 for 2011, this covers your childs membership fee to The Scout Association which includes insurance whilst on scouting events and activities.

We are a registered Charity and like all scout groups, we do not get funding from Scout HQ.

As a child moves from beavers to cubs and cubs to scouts the more activities they are allowed to do.

For example our beavers can attend sleepovers in our hall but cannot go camping. However they can still learn the skills involved. That way, when they reach cubs, they can then go on camps and use the knowledge that they gained in beavers.

Then as a cub becomes a scout, they become more independent and can go on one night camps on their own, with their leaders knowing what they are doing and what they have planned to do.

This doesn't however mean that you have to had been a beaver to join cubs or a cub to join scouts.

The scouting programmes have been built in this way so that no matter how old you are there is a section that is just right for you!
